senior adults

age 65 and up

First Baptist Church is thrilled to offer an exciting array of activities and ministries designed especially for our Senior Adults. Many of our most active members belong to this very group. Just like the other generations in our church family, our Senior Adults enjoy opportunities for fellowship, outreach, discipleship, music and missions. Every year on Senior Adult Day, our church family honors a very special group of people we call the Golden Nineties. Our Senior Adults are making a difference in this world for Christ.

Senior Adult Day Trip
One of the things our Senior Adults love to do is travel. Whether we pile in the church bus for a day trip or charter a full bus for a week chock full of sightseeing, these trips always involve food, fun and fellowship. Is there any better way to get to know people than to spend a week with them? Some of our Senior Adults also participate in Body Recall, a physical fitness ministry that helps members remain active while experiencing the joy of fellowship. Our Senior Adults are living lives full of abundant joy in the Lord.
Our Senior Adults reach out to share the love of Jesus in many ways. First, we write cards and visit guests in our Sunday School classes to make them feel at home. Second, we provide an In Home In Touch Ministry in order to stay in contact with those members whose disabilities no longer permit them to attend church. Third, we serve a luncheon once a month as an outreach to the whole community. Known as the Metallic Club, we serve a potluck meal, feature some type of program, and enjoy our time together.

The Bright-Parrish Library
Our Senior Adults realize spiritual maturity is a lifelong process. We are committed to helping each one grow in their relationship with Jesus. Our Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting is just one ministry in which this happens. We lift up the needs of our church family and study a book of the Bible verse by verse. On Sunday Nights, we come back for a worship service featuring traditional hymns and instruction from God's Word. Our Bright-Parrish Library is also a very popular ministry among our Senior Adult members.

Our Senior Adults are not only personally involved in missions work, but also very active in the support of missions both in America and around the world. The men of our church meet monthly for Brotherhood Dinners in which some worthy ministry or cause is discussed. We also assist those who have become disabled in the provision of entry ramps for their homes. Our ladies are active in numerous Woman's Missionary Union groups. They promote offerings, pray, and participate in worthy missions projects.
